Didn't start after update / Won't re-install

ComfyUI Desktop stopped working on my Windows 11 machine after today’s update. I deleted and tried a re-install but it won’t work. Expletives and hair-pulling deleted.

I have the following error messages:
Base path invalid or unsafe

Reinstall ComfyUI

Install python packages

uv executable

uv cache

Reset virtual environment

Regrettably the Console Logs are blank.

Is there a simple solution?

If not, what’s the complicated solution? Or do I now have a 7K paperweight sitting on my desk?

"When using the desktop version, you can expect these issues to always follow after an update. The program’s stability and the compatibility of modules and nodes often break with each update.

  1. Unstable with every update → Released without stability verification.
  2. Compatibility breakdown → Core modules like Torch, CUDA, and SageAttention keep conflicting.
  3. Lack of management → Bug reports pile up but fixes are slow.
  4. Poor user experience → Errors keep repeating during installation and execution.

If updates are expected to cause complete disabling of the program… how do we prevent future updates being applied automatically?

And worse how do you remedy at all if the site itself is having issues.

I did the removal and cleared everything out. I then tried to reinstall with the “new” software so I go to the URL: Download ComfyUI: Most Powerful Open Source Node-Based AI application for Full Control Over Image, Video, & 3D Generation which loads fine, and I select the Windows version to download (h t t p s://download.comfy.org/windows/nsis/x64) which error out telling me :

Hmmm… can’t reach this page
It looks like the webpage at h t t p s://download.comfy.org/windows/nsis/x64 might be having issues, or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

OK, never mind. It seems that even though I get all those errors, it actually did download 0.7.2 into my downloads folder. So next time I’ll ignore errors and just look in downloads.

Exact same issue, it isn’t telling me what’s wrong or what to do.
