I have ComfyUI portable installed. I wanted the new subgraph feature.
So i headed over to the comfyUI manager, the addon, and clicked the Update all button. No avail.
Then i tried the update_comfyui.bat. No avail.
Then i tried the update_comfyui_stable.bat in the comfy manager. No avail.
Finally i tried the update_comfyui_and_python_dependencies.bat. And finally i had my new subgraph functionality.
And while the manager is a custom node, the update_comfyui.bat or the update_comfyui_stable.bat is not.
So, what is the correct way to update the portable of ComfyUI?
And what is the update_comfyui.bat or the update_comfyui_stable.bat good for when it does not update ComfyUI to the latest state, but just does half of the job?
They explain that in the file README_VERY_IMPORTANT.txt.
Basicaly I do one update_comfyui.bat weakly, some updates on ConfyUI Manager during this time and when some bad things happens just used update_comfyui_and_python_dependencies.bat.
Thanks for your input. I know of course the readme too
But the “bad thing” is that it is nowadays mandatory to run the update_comfyui_and_python_dependencies.bat to get the new features. And that you need a glass bowl to say if the other two options could be enough
There should imho one Update option to fit it all. Update means update. And the other options doesn’t do that reliably anymore, unfortunately.
I sometimes feel it lacks a bit of cohesion, but by far they’ve done one amazing job with ComfyUI, and if it’s not some new feature you need… don’t even need to bother to update too. Love it!
It is not available from the ComfyUI UI. Which is imho the second sin here. It is a windows bat file. You double click it, and it starts the update process.
