I am a relative noob wrt comfy and linux in general. I have comfyui up and running on my mac mini m4 (base), but my linux machine has much better hardware: Radeon 7900xtx 24Gb VRAM, 32G system ram, AMD 5800x3d CPU. I managed to get comfy installed on linux, and a simple workflow (z-image-turbo) from the templates worked seamlessly. So, the linux / comfy setup works.
Thing is, I want to use qwen-image-edit to clean up photos. The template worklows for this latest include models that are too large to run on my machine. So, I searched for and found a gguf quantized version from hugging face, but after two days of trying and failing to get it to work, I am at a brick wall moment. These workflows throw ‘model missing’ errors, and do not seem to have any guidance on where to put the gguf models (multiple unet blocks) or others. I am so frustrated with this process right now.
What I need is a workflow for Q.I.E.2511 that works with quantized GGUFs and that has clear install instructions on where to get the appropriate models, and where in the labyrinth that is the comfyui folder to place them. Seems a simple task, and maybe it is, and I am just a doofus, but after two days of guessing where the ‘missing models error’ wants things to be placed, and never succeeding, I am at the ‘hair pulling out stage’!
This seems like an already solved problem - download a workflow, follow the directions, use QIE. For me, it is not. At this point, I am at a brick wall. No matter where I put the files I think I need, I get ‘missing models’ errors.
What I need is a fresh, working workflow that does not assume the user has intuitive understanding of where to put the models, what they do, or how to troubleshoot an installation. I need a ‘put this there’ instruction guide that is unambiguous and functional.
I love the IDEA of comfyui, but am not loving the naming/placing conventions for things, that have no obvious meaning. GGUF means, what exactly? Is this a quantized diffusion model? None of this makes any sense to me, I feel like an apprentice Wizard, trying to read a spell book in a language I don’t understand.
Any thoughts? ADVthanksANCE for any replies.
Cheers!
